Robert James McKnight

McKNIGHT, Robert James, 79 years of age, the 31st day of July 2011. Shirley (nee MacKay), his wife of 57 years, left Robert’s embrace in April 2010. Robert cherished his extra time with family and friends but wanted to follow the love of his life. This quick-witted man always had a statement that made you laugh. All the generations relished his “duct tape” fiasco’s that became his trademark. He shared his love of music through the piano, accordion and harmonica along with many serenades. Robert retired as a highly respected superintendant from Chrysler Canada. Sharing in his life is children Debbie Gosling, Robert and Mary-Lou McKnight, Heather and Mark Nantais, Janice McKnight and Bruce Melmer, Judie Harris and Al Bernyk. Grandfather of 13, precious grandfather of many foster children, great-grandfather of 14, remarkable great-great-grandfather of 5. Faithful sibling to Bill (deceased) and Margaret McKnight, Connie (deceased) and Don Brooke (deceased), Gloria and Jim Moir and Robert and Rita MacKay. Friends and family may call at the Walter D. Kelly Funeral Home, 1969 Wyandotte St. E., (519) 252-5711 on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
