It is with heavy hearts we announce that Anne Brown of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully on November 22, 2020 at the Misericordia Hospital at the age of 83.
Anne is survived by her sisters Esther, Elisabeth (Casey) and Dora.
She was predeceased by her husband James (Jim), son Murray James Brown, brothers Abe, Jake, Pete, and Willie and sisters Martha, Tina, Mary, and Lena.
Anne was born May 4, 1937 in Plum Coulee, Manitoba to Katherina and Peter Unger. As a child, Anne loved the outdoors. She enjoyed playing baseball and spending time with her dog Teddy while she was milking the cows, “you have to sing to them” she would say, “they give more milk that way.” Anne had a heart for music. Playing both the guitar and the auto harp she loved singing hymns every chance she got. She and her sisters would even boat up and down the coulee on summer evenings singing for whoever was around to listen.
She met her soon to be husband Jim on a bus ride from Plum Coulee to Winnipeg. They were married on August 18, 1956 and would go on to enjoy 64 wonderful years together.
Anne absolutely loved family and made great efforts to maintain relationships spanning all generations. She was in her glory at family gatherings where she would make sure to put together goodie bags for all the kids and usually a little something for their parents too.
Anne worked for home care and genuinely enjoyed helping the clients that she cared for, even going as far as sneaking them tomatoes from her garden. Belonging to both the Eagles and the Legion she kept busy playing weekly cribbage and volunteering for various events. Anne and Jim loved to travel taking many road trips to visit family as well as a few cruises, Alaska being the highlight.
“Auntie Anne” will be dearly missed by her family.
Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at the Misericordia Transitional Care Unit for the wonderful care they provided for Anne.
