Anne Marie Gyles

On September 14, 2021, Anne unexpectedly passed away at Health Science Centre with her family by her side. She will be profoundly missed by her husband Bob, sons Geoffrey and Matthew (Megan) and her granddaughter Neve. She will also be missed by her extended family including Sally Tully and her children, Mike Gyles (Donna), as well as her Isford cousins and their families. Anne was predeceased by her son Chris, dear friend Doris, her parents Lillian and Arnold and Brother Paul.

Anne grew up in Southern California but she found her home in Winnipeg where she met Bob and they settled in Waverley Heights. She was the consummate “people person”, making lasting friendships through her sons’ sports teams, through her neighbors on Lake Village Road as well through her work at Finnen Bettis Finnen and Bell and latterly at Book Optical.

She was a loyal friend who treated those close to her as family. She was generous with her love, laughter and support, often with a glass of wine or martini in her hand. It was always a party with Anne in the room. Her kindness and compassion extended to animals as well, especially all her pets.

Anne’s zest for life included the many trips she and Bob took throughout the years. She truly loved hot destinations but also enjoyed camping (glamping) and many pool parties with her family and friends and road trips over the border. She loved wine tours and participated in all activities she thought to be fun and adventurous.

Her greatest joy was he granddaughter, Neve. In her role as Amma, she loved the time they spent together baking, crafting, hair braiding and shopping. Her shopping trips with Neve were epic, often lasting many hours and garnering many bags filled with special gifts.

Anne’s greatest heartache was the passing of her son, Christopher. The family finds comfort in knowing that they are now together, soaring with the eagles.

The family will be having a private graveside service at a later date. If friends so desire, donations can be made to Winnipeg Humane Society
