Bessie is survived by Linda (Kevin) Young, grandchildren Aaron (Kayte) Young and Kylagh (Oliver) Alavian and great-grandson Evan.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald, parents Lydia and Oswald, brothers Harvey, Rhoyd, Don and Aubrey.
Bessie was born in Lumsden, Newfoundland on April 23, 1924. She carried a career as a teacher in Newfoundland which she very much enjoyed, retiring in 1983 and later moved to Winnipeg to care for her grandchildren. She was devoted to the Lord and to her family and found joy in that alone. She was a selfless mother, wife and grandmother and the love and care she provided us all will be greatly missed.
The family is in comfort knowing she has joined her husband and the Lord and is resting peacefully and would like to thank the staff at The Saul and Claribel Simkin Center, Weinberg 2 for providing care in her final years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Trinity United Church, viewing will begin at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
