Born in Edmonton, Alberta and with his father in the military, Brian lived in many different places in Canada and spent several years in Germany. From Germany, they travelled to England to visit his Mother’s family, to France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
In his early working life, Brian held many diverse jobs such as pumping gas (owner loved him as he always filled the tank and made him more money), driving a lift truck at the Glass Factory, hanging tobacco in barns, installing siding, roofing, installing TV towers, selling Kraft Food products, banking and driving taxi. He attended Centennial College and graduated with an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Diploma and licence. Brian worked at Great Lakes Airline as a Maintenance Engineer then for Transport Canada as an Airworthiness Inspector. The family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1981 for Brian’s position at the Canadian Aviation Safety Board as an Aircraft Accident Investigator. He retired from that position in 2009.
Brian greatly loved spending time with his family, travelling, dining, playing cards, Flight Simulator, board games and watching movies. His favourite vacations included camping with friends and family, visiting the Dominican Republic, the East and West Coast of Canada and the U.S.A and cruising the Caribbean and Hawaii.
Not many people knew that Brian wrote poetry and enjoyed sketching just about anything from scenery to animals, his colleagues and his children. He also was accomplished in oil painting. He was an avid photographer, developing his own black and white photos.
Brian loved golfing, fishing, canoeing, boating, camping and in more recent years, telling and sharing stories around the campfire at Morden Meadows Trailer Park.
Brian is remembered fondly by friends and family for his wonderful sense of humor and often had them in stitches laughing so hard!
He will be so greatly missed!
