Catherine Marie Linklater

Catherine passed away on Friday, December 23rd, 2022 at the age of 79 years old at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Catherine will be lovingly remembered by her children, Allen, Bradley (Lori) and Gail (Jonathon) and she happily raised two of her grandchildren from Allen as she was their “Gran-Mommy” Hope (Calvin) and Jared (Patrichia).

Catherine was predeceased by her parents, her seven brothers and sisters and is survived by her brother Angus (Pelagie). Left to cherish her memory is her grandchildren from Bradley, Desireé, Lauren, Jasmine and her numerous great-grandchildren, her nieces, and nephews, and many, many other relatives and especially her close friends Evelyn and Sophie.

Catherine grew up in High Rock and Pukatawagan and cherished the memories of being at her father’s trapline all throughout her life. She started working for Hudson’s Bay Co., and at Ken Duthie’s - General Store. In 1992, she received her Mature Grade 12 Diploma at Yellowquill College, in Portage La Prairie. Catherine worked as a cook and dietary aid in Long Plain Reserve and in Winnipeg at Swampy Cree Receiving Home where she was their “energizer bunny” till, 2017 at the age of 74 years old she finally retired. Catherine loved watching The Young and the Restless, trying to figure out the winning numbers for the lotto, bingo, travelling, and especially visiting family and friends telling them stories. Along with working and the continuous learning throughout her life she enjoyed motherhood, caring for her own mom as she aged, she loved wholesomely, and was the keeper of memories and keepsakes.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Interment will take place at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Pukatawagan, Manitoba.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their condolences and patience. Especially the Home Care Program in Winnipeg, and all her palliative care team in 3E at Riverview Health Centre.
