It is with deep sadness, that the family of Craig John Auld, announce his passing on August 25, 2021 at Seven Oaks Hospital.
Craig is predeceased by his parents, Alice and Jim and survived by his wife, Margie; sons, Jeff (Kirsten); Jamie (Marcy), granddaughter, Avery; brother, Brian (Rhonda), niece Lindsay (Josh); cousin, Bruce; and Aunt Marg and families.
Craig often shared how fortunate he and his family have been in the opportunities they have had, experiences and love they have shared. Hef was always the biggest supporter and fan of his sons’ endeavours, sports and other activities and Grandpa Craig showered his granddaughter, Avery, with love, attention and special times.
He was born January 14, 1945 and that summer his love for a little piece of heaven known as Grand Beach began. Hef always made everyone feel welcome and he often shared stories and memories of the laughs and good times at “the corner” with family and neighbours. You know who you are.
Craig was an avid baseball player and fan and played on several Men’s fastball teams in Winnipeg and then 10 years of Senior Men’s slo-pitch in Arizona. Baseball was not his only sports interest as he was a fan of almost all sports. The highlight being the chance to have his picture taken with his favourite hockey player, Phil Espisto, when he and his family were at a hockey game in Arizona. In addition to sports, Craig was an old rocker at heart and some of his favourite times included attending various concerts across the years with his wife, family and friends.
Craig worked for 35 years with Codville Company/Sobey’s and upon his retirement in 2002, he and Margie enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona for 15 years. Craig enjoyed travelling with his wife, especially to Hawaii, his favourite getaway, where many memories on the beach with the sunsets were created.
Craig will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His humour, love of life, and his great appreciation for all of the fortunate opportunities are his lasting legacy.
A private interment will occur with immediate family. A small gathering of friends and family will occur afterwards with location to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation (www.cancercarefdn.mb.ca).
