MAY 21, 1936 – MAY 2, 2011
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Dean.
Born in Coulter, MB Dean decided at an early age to enter the engineering profession, obtaining his degree at the University of Manitoba in 1962. Dean passed away suddenly on Monday afternoon while working on his life’s passion, Geotechnical Engineering.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Agnes, daughter Dona (Peter) and son Darren (Deidre), his sister Norma (of Calgary), brothers Dale and Bob, and sister Laura (all of Winnipeg). He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Margaret, and his sister Lorraine.
Dean was well-regarded both in his professional and volunteer life. His meticulous geotechnical work was known throughout Manitoba from the Winnipeg Floodway to many large projects in northern Manitoba. His professional life spanned across Canada from the Yukon Territory to Quebec. His innovative rock-piles have been used successfully for many years. He had a passion for singing and his deep bass voice was heard in the Winnipeg Male Chorus and his church choir for many years. He was active in the church community and played an important role on many boards and committees.
Funeral service was held at 10:00am on Monday, May 9th, 2011 at Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Avenue, Winnipeg.
Interment will follow at a later date.
