With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Donald Wayne Ruby on March 19, 2026, at the Poseidon Care Centre in Winnipeg.
Donald was the kind of man who never met a stranger, only friends he hadn’t spoken to yet. Whether he was working hard on a construction site or out in the community, he had a natural gift for making people feel welcome, seen, and valued. His presence was easy, warm, and unforgettable.
He found his greatest happiness in life’s simple moments; a good card game, laughter shared with loved ones, and the familiar, comforting sounds of Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson playing in the background. If there was a country song on, you could be sure Donald was right at home.
Donald will be forever loved and deeply missed by his children; Elda (Norm) and Wayne Jr.; and his cherished grandsons Kenneth, Achilles, and Landon. He also leaves behind his siblings; Leona, Cindy, Patricia, Darlene and John, who will carry his memory in their hearts.
He is now reunited with those who went before him; his parents Sheila and Tony, his brother David, and his beloved grandson Ethan.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Poseidon Care Centre and a special thanks to Jackson, for the compassion, dignity, and care they showed Donald in his final days.
Donald’s kindness, his laughter, and the way he made people feel will never be forgotten. He will live on in every story shared, every song played, and every moment of connection he inspired.
