Donna Hunter

Donna was born on February 6, 1931, in Regina. Donna passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 12:30 pm with her family by her side. She was 86 years old. She will be sadly missed by her niece Jacqui, husband Don Tirschmann, her great niece Lisa and Buddy Prince, her great great niece Cheyenne, great great nephews, Corey, Michael and Marcus, her great niece Mia and Rob Pollok, her great great nephew Gage and great great niece Gwen, in addition to many dear friends in Vancouver, B.C.

She was predeceased by her father and mother; Peter and Mary Hunter and her brother John Williams and his wife Doris Williams.

Donna was a world traveler from Moscow to Hawaii, to France, England, Scotland, China, Japan, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Hollywood and Las Vegas, where she saw for the first time Frank Sinatra. From that trip she fell in love with his singing. When you mentioned Frank’s name or any of his songs, she had the expression, I am in heaven. Donna was a legal secretary all her working life until she retired. She was also the secretary for the English Speaking Union out of Vancouver. Donna liked to walk every Sunday and she would walk the perimeter of Stanley Park. Donna would feed the squirrels from her kitchen window, they trusted her so much that they would come down and sit at the kitchen table and have toast with her.

Aunty D, as we all affectionately called her, was a whiz at spelling and doing crossword puzzles. When she lived with us, we would do them together after lunch. She visited us often and spent considerable quality time with us. She loved walking our shih tzu, terrier dog, sometimes she walked Tiki, three times in a day.

We want to thank Home Care for helping us take care of Aunty D for the last 5 years. They were our Angels as were all the staff at Seven Oakes Hospital, Tuxedo Villa and especially her last home, the Maples Personal Care Home. You were all so wonderful with your care and compassion that came through as unreserved love.

As were Aunty D’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. Cremation has occurred at Thomson Funeral Home.
