It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Douglas Barry on October 23. Doug leaves his wife Joyce Moroz, daughter Christina Barry (Edgar Unrau), son Jeffrey Barry (Sophie Kil) and grandchildren Jett, Estelle and Peyton to forever cherish his memory. He will be missed by his sister Evelyn Barry (Ben Larsson), his three brothers Allan (Judi Moxley), Ron (Kim) and Bryan, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The eldest child of Gregory and Jessie Barry (nee Algar), Doug attended Vincent Massey Collegiate and played football for the Fort Garry Lions. He earned a Bachelor of Interior Design from the University of Manitoba and applied his knowledge, artistic skills and creativity to hundreds of commercial and residential interior and architectural design projects over a career spanning five decades.

Always curious and with keen observational skills, Doug was an avid birder and also learned to identify butterflies, dragonflies and plants. He loved to paint and draw and took inspiration from nature to create vibrant landscapes and images of birds and butterflies in brilliant ways. He often wore his art on shirts that he had painted.

Doug looked forward to his weekly golf game with friends. He curled and played hockey for many years, and enjoyed playing pick-up with his kids and grandson at the outdoor rink.

Doug and Joyce shared 50 wonderful years, enjoying time at the cottage and travelling. Doug taught their children the value of balancing work with play. A true child at heart, and with a great sense of humour, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

His family and friends will miss and remember him with love.

A private burial was held at Thomson "In the Park’ Funeral Home and Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
