Patricia E. Dufour, 97, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, peacefully passes away on November 27, 2023, joining her parents, siblings, husband and son, in their eternal home.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Doreen Shevon; by her husband, Francis Dufour, in 1999, and her son, Donald Dufour, in 2023, her brothers, James and Louis Shevon and her sisters, Val Leskun, Tena Kirchner and Kay Yanko.
Pat is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Bernie (late Don) Dufour and their children, Laura (Jason) Hudson, Debra (Kevin) Spelay, Sarah (Brad) Dufour, Anita (Charles) Hubert and Frances Dufour; her son Paul (Patti) Dufour, and their children, Dennis (Chantel) Dufour, Jimmy (Kavita) Dufour and Danielle (Keith) Bueckert; and her daughter, Sandra (Mel) Dufour Rittberg, and her children, Rachelle (Darryl) Forsythe, Ryan (Karolyn) Forsythe and Jennifer (Luke) Toews. Pat is also survived by her 21 great-grandchildren.
Patricia was born on March 20, 1926, youngest child to Paul and Doreen Shevon, in Regina Saskatchewan. As a young lady she worked as a steno, secretary, accountant and Inspector in Regina Industries War Plant, and joined the Canadian Red Cross Corps, and volunteered at the YWCA.
Pat met her soul mate, Francis Xavier Dufour in 1943. They married after the war on June 10, 1949, at Holy Rosary Cathedral in Regina, Sk. Pat and Frank were blessed with three children, Donald (1950), Paul (1956) and Sandra (1959). Pat and Frank moved to Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1952 where they raised their family, ran a Bulk Service Station for Texaco Canada Ltd., were active in the church, the community, and the Legion. Pat started the group the Third Weyburn Girl Guides, as Captain, went on as Division Commission, elected to the Provincial Council, served on the Finance Awards and Canada Cord Convenor. She also was with C.W.L., Royal Purple, Young Fellow Wives, Lioness International, Legion Ladies auxiliary.
Pat and Frank purchased a cottage at Kenosee Lake in 1963 and enjoyed every season there for over 40 years! They enjoyed wonderful friends, Dinie and Ben Van Betuw, Isobel and John Norman, Mel and Doris Van de Sype, Milt and Helen Slezak and Dorothy and Del Williams. They enjoyed many activities such as travelling, dancing, and boating.
Pat will be remembered by her family as a gracious hostess, fun loving, passionate, and very loving mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Pat lost Frank, on March 10, 1999, and she felt a piece of herselfdied with him. She thanked God for her most treasured children, and their beautiful families, which made her life worth living.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat's name to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
The family and friends will celebrate Pat's life at a ceremony on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023 at 4pm, at Thompson "In the Park" Funeral Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her internment and graveside service date to be determined, at Hillcrest cemetery in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.
