Though she spent most of her adult life in Winnipeg, Edith was born in and spent her childhood and youth on her family’s farm in Herbert, Saskatchewan. She took the hard work ethic instilled in her during those years to Winnipeg, where she dedicated her professional career to nursing. She rose to the senior administrative ranks in the major teaching hospitals in Winnipeg, as well as in a number of international nursing professional organizations. She was known as a leader, teacher, mentor, and friend in her professional life.
Her children, relatives and friends also knew Edith for her warmth, her generosity, her fortitude in the face of many physical challenges, her commitment to providing a voice for those who often did not have one, and for the grace she so frequently displayed in adverse circumstances. She will be greatly missed by many.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 10:00 am at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway. Ray Cooper, former Pastor and friend will officiate.
