Left to cherish his memory are his wife Jintana Kuncharin; brother Gerry (Darlene) and their children Gina and Selina; sister Margaret; his extended family in Thailand and Canada; as well as numerous colleagues and students all over the world.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Cecile Landino.
Frank was born and raised in Winnipeg and left for Ottawa to pursue his studies in Theology and Psychology, at the age of twenty-seven. After graduation, he was employed in social services at the Elizabeth Fry Society, advocating for social justice issues. After several years in Ottawa, Frank made the decision to move to Vancouver where he worked at the Salvation Army as an Addictions Counselor. While in Vancouver, Frank also developed a side gig as an educator and taught English as a second language for many newcomers to Canada.
In 2004 Frank met his wife, Jintana, and celebrated their marriage in her home country of Thailand, in 2007. He also fell in love with the country and the culture and remained there for approximately twelve years. At this time his teaching of English went from the boardroom to the internet and he had students from every corner of the globe; many of which still kept in touch with him. In early 2024 Frank experienced a decline in health and he returned to Canada and his family to pursue treatment.
From an early age, Frank developed a passion for meditation and Tai Chi, and practiced these disciplines his entire life. He was also a talented musician. As a youth he performed in the local music scene with bands such as the Back Pages, and performed in southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.
The family is grateful for the love and care that Jintana’s family in Thailand gave Frank during his time living with them.
The family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Tyler Spencer from Access River East, and to all the health care professionals at St. Boniface Hospital who cared for him so wonderfully.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Frank’s name to a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday October 30, at 11:00 am, at Crosspoint Community Church, 554 Marsden Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Frank,
Thanks for coming home to Winnipeg during this difficult time. We were grateful to care for and walk with you on the last leg of your journey.
We will miss you. Rest in Peace Brother.
