Today, I sent an email to Glenna.
It had been a few years since our last phone session from Toronto.
I wanted to tell her how much of an impact she'd made in my life.
Inexplicably, I held my breath after I hit 'send'.
I had a premonition it would come back, and it did.
I called her number....a number I had called so many times before.
Then I knew.
Glenna was my angel, a beautiful and caring person. 
She led me through many stages of grief and trauma. 
From the age of 14, I struggled with my Mom's death for over 25 years on my own. 
Glenna was the one who recognized my PTSD, and helped me take my first clinical steps in healing.
I hope she knew how important she was to me, and how much I admired her, as a therapist and as a person.
Glenna, I feel blessed to have had the honour of your presence in my life. I miss you.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dr. Lambert's passing. She was a gem. She has been a blessing to me and my life is better for having known her and experiencing her kindness.

As Glenna’s brother-in-law, I am very sad that Glenna passed away so suddenly.  Lynn and I have so many great and fond memories of being together with Glenna over the years. We especially have a lot of great memories of Glenna when she lived in Toronto at the time when we lived there. We got together frequently and we had many fun times with her. It could be as simple as going out to a restaurant, going out to the movies and taking her on a road trip. Glenna was always very happy, was exuberant and loved to laugh with us. Those were very special times with her! When we moved out to Winnipeg, we continued to get together with her frequently. Then when we moved to Calgary, we would see Glenna whenever we went to Winnipeg or whenever she would come to stay with us in our home here. She came to stay with us many times at Christmas time so those were special holiday times for our family. Glenna was a loving, warm and giving aunt to our two children, Brendan and Hayley. She loved to give them special and unique gifts and beautiful children’s books for their birthdays and for their Christmas presents. Glenna always loved to talk with Brendan and Hayley whenever she visited us and whenever she talked with them on the phone. As a loving aunt, she was always very much interested in their lives, was very proud of them as they grew up and she cherished to hear about their ongoing accomplishments. Our family will dearly miss Glenna. She was like a sister to me. She would talk with me and was always interested in me. She had insightful and stimulating comments to make about specific matters and about life in general. When I travelled to Toronto and back by car one year she put me up in her house for an overnight stay. She was very kind and welcoming to me because by the time I arrived at her home it was late in the evening. Even though I briefly saw her when I travelled both ways, I felt a closeness to her that was that was truly unique. Goodbye my sister. I love you forever.

Glenna and I worked together in my very first job in an agency for the handicapped in Winnipeg.  She was a wonderful friend and colleague, at that time specializing in the preschool where her kindness, good humour and gentle manner endeared her to all, especially the little ones. I have great memories of times spent together through those years both at work and at play.  I moved to Toronto a few years later, where she connected me with her sister Lynn, and we’ve maintained our warm connection from a distance through all the intervening years.
Glenna was a truly sweet soul.  Her  obituary captures her many wonderful qualities so well – her generosity, her love of animals, her adventurous spirit, her loving nature that she bestowed on all who knew her or who benefited from her expertise.  She will be missed.  


Glenna will be missed by the many people that loved her. She was a  kind, compassionate, insightful and  skilled therapist  who supported and helped so many people in need. She was a loving friend and sister. I am sending her friends, family and her beautiful spirit my love and compassion.

I learned she had died on June 5 th . I had called her that day and on the 4 th – no answer.  I expected her to call me back after seeing I had called as she usually did. Then I tried to call again on June 23 rd finding her phone number was now unassigned.
Search on the net under her name brought up her obituary – sudden death. I was deeply shocked…… She had been a found friend fifty years after we had been classmates at University of Manitoba.
 I had noticed her – was attracted to her. Managed to ask her out.
She invited me to her home as a safe tactic. I overstayed and was out in a snowstorm, -20 F no buses running. Luckily a kind woman, my mother’s generation, pulled over and got me into her car, drove me home. I wrote an essay on people disrespecting others but closed it with this wonderful incident, and I remembered Glenna, found her on the net, sent her the story. Her name was not mentioned. She apologized though it was my own fault.
We became good friends. Spoke monthly, trusted one another – shared life stories happy and sad.  Cared…
I cherished her friendship, loved the sound of her voice.
I miss her presence in life. I feel forlorn.

I worked with Glenna while I was a principal in the River East Transcona School Division.  She was a caring, compassionate professional, open to staff, parents and most of all, the students on her case load.  I enjoyed her sense of humour.  My condolences to her family and friends.  Jeff Carter

To all the family, I am in sorrow with you over the loss of Glenna. Glenna and I worked together as Psychologists in schools, shared a private practice office, and studied together for our professional certification exam. She was in my life over many years and over several residences and many cats. It was a big event when Glenna adopted Lucy who happened to be a dog. All this to say, Glenna had a big heart and caring soul. The picture announcing the obituary is how I remember her best- a genuinely warm smile inviting you in.  

I have fond memories of Glenna, from our time working together through the Child Guidance Clinic. My condolences to the family.
