Gordon Wallace Robb was born July 7, 1923, in Winnipeg, and passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on Monday, June 4, 2012, one month short of his 89th birthday. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Joyce, his daughters Meredith McArthur and her husband Brian and Lorna Robb and his son Douglas Robb and his wife Janice. Gordon had 10 grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud: Shanley (Andrew) Matthews, Patrick McArthur, Douglas McArthur (Kristyn Dunn), and Paul McArthur; Julia Campbell and Anna Campbell(Kesley Harris); Gordon, Danielle, Joseph and Brian Robb. He also had two great-grandsons, Adam McArthur and Avery Harris. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Audrey Baker and Jocelyn Kerr. Gordon attended Kelvin High School before enlisting in the R.C.A.F., where he served two and half years in England. He obtained his B Sc. in Forestry from the University of New Brunswick in 1949. His career as a forester and sales manager with Spruce Products Ltd. lasted 35 years. He served as director with the Manitoba Forestry Association for many years and as an executive member of the Canadian Institute of Forestry since 1949. Gordon and Joyce have been members of Fort Garry United Church since they moved to Fort Garry in 1954. Next to his family, the love of his life was the family cottage at Farlane, Ontario. His father built it in 1913, so it was always a part of his life. Our best memories of our dad were in a canoe with a paddle in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. Gordon was a fair and honest man whose children learned life’s lessons from his straightforward and positive attitudes. "I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray When in the Lord’s great landing net And peacefully asleep, That in his mercy I be judged-BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP." Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Garry United Church, Point Road at Lyon Street. Thomson in the Park is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gordon’s memory to Victoria Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9; Assiniboine Park Conservatory 401-1661 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 9Z9; or the charity of your choice. The family is sincerely grateful to the Home Care nurses. A LIFE WELL LIVED
