

Guenter passed away peacefully at Bergen Gardens on December 9, 2025, at the age of 91.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
Guenter is survived by his wife, Christiane Laengin and her family; his children, Jacqui Druxman (Jamie), Paul Bormann (Suzanne), and Ingrid Nolan (Paul); his sister, Monika Paemoller (Alfred); grandchildren, Dustin (Laura), Max (Mary), Sabrina, Taylor (Kyle), Quin (Gladys), Reece (Allie), Erika, and Spencer (Renée); and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Ella, Adolin, Mya, Lyla, Bo, Colby, Luke, and Everett.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 49 years, Louisa Johanna Bormann, in 2007.
Born in Goslar, Germany, Guenter immigrated to Canada in 1952, where he built a rich and fulfilling life. He began his career in accounting and as a DJ at a local German radio station and retired from Manitoba Health Services after a long and rewarding career.
Deeply rooted in his community, Guenter gave countless hours to charitable and cultural organizations, serving as President of the German Society and Folklorama, and as a Board Member of Winnipeg Harvest, among many others.
He will be remembered for his humour, generosity, kindness, charming smile, love of sunshine and travel, and the gentle way he cared for his family and friends.
His life was marked by many achievements, recognitions, and accolades, all earned through his dedication and hard work.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bergen Gardens for their care, compassion, and friendship, as well as to the WHRA support staff for their wonderful care.
Cremation has taken place according to Guenter’s wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held in early 2026.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local charity.
Guenter will be deeply missed and forever remembered. We see you smiling, Guenter.
