Mom was born in Parry Sound and was raised in McKellar. Some of her youth was spent in several lumber camps where her father was manager. In 1931 they moved to Schumacher where she attended public school. She then went to TH&VS in Timmins. The family later moved to South Porcupine where she met Dad. After a 5 year Overseas Military tour Mom and Dad were married in Jan 1946. Over the next twelve years came the three boys, we were her pride and joy. Summer vacations were our special time with camping, songs and games.
Mom worked at some of the more famous establishments in South Porcupine. Uly's, Sky's and Clarks Ladies Wear.
Mom loved to travel and was also an accomplished pianist. Curling was her sport. She also enjoyed entertaining, ribbon and pin wheel sandwiches were her specialty. Family Xmas was always at our place where everyone enjoyed themselves.
They stayed in the Porcupine till 1967 when Dads work took them to several locations in Ontario. They retired in Sault Ste. Marie; however in 2007 they got the moving bug again and relocated to Winnipeg.
In accordance with Mom's wishes cremation has taken place and a small family service held. In memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.
Thanks go out to Kiwanis St James staff and residents. A special thanks to the fantastic staff at T6 Deer Lodge for their kindness and care.
