

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Colonel Harnam Singh on Thursday, April 7th at Riverview Health Centre.
He was born July 15th, 1922 in Patoki, Pakistan. The only child of Hari Singh and Inder Kaur, he enlisted in the Indian Army as a Lieutenant, fought in four wars including WWII, and retired after forty years of service as a highly decorated Colonel. After moving to Winnipeg in 1980, he joined the Corps of Commissionaires, and retired as a Commander in 1994. He appreciated the importance of education and this is best exemplified by his founding of many schools in India. He loved horticulture, playing poker, reading, writing, and watching baseball.
He will be missed by his wife Pritam Kaur, daughters Amarjit (late Col. Risal) Singh, Nimrit (Dave) Nagasaka, Kamaljit (Col. Kamal) Sekhon, Rosario (Ron) Robles, and predeceased by his son Surinder. He will always be remembered by his grandchildren Anureet, Rick, Japjee, Rustam, Justin, Rubina, Joshua, Evan, and Sean, as well as his six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12 at 2:00p.m., at Thomson “In the Park” 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. The family extends their appreciation to the staff of St. Boniface Hospital and Riverview Health Centre.
