Herbert Unrau Sawatzky

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Herbert Unrau Sawatzky, a remarkable individual who left an impactful mark on the lives of those who knew him. He peacefully departed on August 6th, 2025, at the age of 58, surrounded by the love of his family. His legacy will continue to inspire and uplift his wife Nadira Sawatzky, inherited children Sharaz, Sheneza, and Anmarie, son-in-laws Prem Sternik and Jarrett Volkmar, and grandchildren Octavian and Alytheia Volkmar.

His memory will also be cherished by his siblings Rudi (Alma) and Elvira Sanduliak.

Herbert's passion for life was contagious, and he reveled in the joy of everyday moments, from simple pleasures to grand adventures. His love for his family was unwavering, and he cherished every moment spent with them, especially his grandchildren. As a dedicated and passionate individual, Herbert found fulfillment in his work and took great pleasure in the company of his colleagues. He was a beacon of positivity, spreading laughter and joy wherever he went, and his wisdom and wit will be deeply missed. His mantra, "eat good and look good," and his advice to all was to "always do things on a full stomach," will continue to inspire those who knew him.

A celebration of Herbert's life will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 15, 2025, at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 5Y4.
