

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hermeet Singh Bali on February 23, 2026. Hermeet passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Winnipeg, MB.
Hermeet was born on October 29, 1967 in Baramulla, Kashmir, India. He is the son of the late Bhagwant Singh Bali and Tej Kaur Bali. He completed his schooling at St. Joseph’s High School, Baramulla where he excelled in academics and played multiple sports. Upon graduating high school, he studied engineering at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar earning a Bachelor's of Engineering in Computer Science with Distinction. He then worked as a software engineer in Canada and the United States over his decades-long career.
Hermeet married the love of his life, Dalmeet Bali, in 1994. They were both born and raised in Kashmir, but following the birth of their two children, Jaivir and Sakshi, they moved to Vancouver, BC. They raised their children in multiple cities in both Canada and the United States. Hermeet loved travelling, exploring new places, and meeting new people. He was a fun-loving father who cherished time with his family including Friday movie nights, day trips on the weekends, and attending school concerts and festivities.
He is predeceased by his parents, Bhagwant and Tej, and father-in-law Inderjit Singh Dutta. He is survived by his wife and two children who were his whole world. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Raminder and Harmeet, as well as his nephew and nieces, Harshvir, Snimar, and Symrath, and mother-in-law Harbans Kaur Dutta.
If you knew Hermeet, you know how much he loved people and making friends everywhere he went. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and befriend them in mere moments. He loved watching cricket, reading John Grisham novels, and listening to Indian ghazals by Jagjit Singh. Hermeet had an adventurous spirit and great sense of humour. He also loved food, especially Kashmiri Wazwan, and hosting his friends for barbecues.
The Bali family would like to express their thanks to numerous friends and family for the outpouring of support, kindness, and sympathy during this difficult time. They would also like to thank Hermeet’s care team at St. Boniface hospital, including numerous nurses, doctors, and health care staff for their exceptional and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hermeet’s honour to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation (409 Tache Ave C1026, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6).
A celebration of Hermeet’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 10:00 am at Thomson "In The Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Winnipeg, MB.
The religious ceremony will follow the funeral service and will be held at the Gurudwara Winnipeg South Sikh Centre located on 1248 Sikh Centre Way, Winnipeg, MB.
