Jack Van Dam

May 25th, 1932 – December 31st, 2015

Jack van Dam passed away on the morning of December 31, 2014 in the arms of his beloved wife, Olga.

He is survived by his wife Olga, son Thomas (Suzanne) van Dam, daughters Birgit (Matt) Lavallee and Heidi (Kurt) Nielsen as well as his grandchildren Kristin Nielsen, Brayden and Emily Lavallee, and Rowan van Dam. Jack will also be missed by extended family as well as his friends.

While Jack loved to travel, his biggest joy was to just sit at home with Olga, listening to good music and eating good food. He was also a voracious reader, always educating himself by keeping up-to-date on current events and taking a variety of courses ranging from management to mechanics. Learning was a hobby and a joy.

A memorial reception celebrating Jack’s life will be held at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with formal speaking at 2:30 p.m.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the staff at Palliative Care and CancerCare for their support and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
