February 14, 1923 - June 28, 2011
John was born in Winnipeg and educated at Ravenscourt School, Queens University and University of Manitoba where he graduated with an Honours Degree in Law. He is survived by his loving family - his wife Beth Hiscox; his daughters Andrea Banning (Russ) and Julia Baker (James Hietanen); his grandchildren Ryan and Jocelyn; great-grandchildren Olivia and Joshua; and Beth's daughters Jill Hiscox and Robin McEachern. John was a sailor - never happier than when he was at the helm of a sailboat. When he was a lawyer in Winnipeg, a businessman in Ohio, a writer in Mexico, a charter captain in the Caribbean, he always managed to get home to Lake of the Woods every summer to sail. He loved art, enjoyed painting and producing sculptures. He was crazy about jazz (especially South American), was a successful investor and loved researching anything and everything that interested him. In short - he was a most amazing man who lived a most amazing life.
He will be greatly missed.
