Mum, “Nana” passed away peacefully at Golden Links Lodge at the age of 101, having led a full and amazing life.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter Lynda (Gordon); grandsons Kevin (Jo), Colin (Chrissy), and Trevor (Yuliya); and great grandchildren Moira, Theo, Grayden and Danny; Yuliya’s son Gleb; by her brother Ed Cooper (Katie).
She will be lovingly remembered by Gordon’s children Catharine (Matt), Douglas (Helene) and Bryan (Natalie) and their children Henry, Charlie, Violet and Hannah. And also by her family in England as well as many other family and friends.
Mum was predeceased by her husband Tom, her parents Basil and Katherine Cooper, sister Patricia and step-mother Vi Cooper.
Mum was born in Killeel,Ireland since her father was working there; however she always considered herself a “Londoner”as London is where she spent much of her childhood.
She met her future husband,Tom,while they both served in the British Army in Germany in 1948.I was born in 1950. In 1959,we emigrated to Winnipeg,as a family.
Dad had already been hired as a policeman before we emigrated. Mum,hard working, and wanting to help to get us established here, worked at any job she could find.
Eventually she was able to pursue an accounting course and worked in accounting with the Federal government until her retirement.
Retirement freed Mum to enjoy and spend time with Grandchildren and later Great-Grandchildren. She loved them all very much.
Mum worked very hard throughout her life, yet she also enjoyed many hobbies and experiences-travelling, sailing, dancing, and skiing with Dad as well as caring for their Ridgebacks,Leo and Amber together. She was a gifted seamstress and as we all well know, a wonderful cook.
Dad passed in 2006 and by then Mum was living at Vic Wyatt House. Words cannot express the kindness and support given to
Mum by, in her words, by “My VicWyatt Family”.
Mum’s health began to decline in 2018 resulting in her move to Golden Links Lodge. She recently enjoyed a visit by Lynn and Jenny from England; and was able to spend time with Family within the last few days.
Having lived a long and very full life, in her later years, Mum most loved and cherished being “Nana” to all and delighted in being involved in all family times.
Our family thanks Golden Links Lodge for their care and support during Mum’s stay there.
