It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Krista Stobart, who passed away peacefully on April 11, 2016 at the age of 35. Her home was filled with family and friends in the final moments of her life.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband and soulmate Andrew, who had a caring relationship with Krista for 8 years and was holding her hand as she took her final breath. She will be greatly missed by her two children Adalyn and Corvin, who mommy loved with all her heart. Krista will be dearly missed by her parents Gavin and Beverly; her sister Megan (Paddy); and brother Ian (Landon). Krista was excited to meet her soon-to-be-born nephews but sadly did not have the chance. She leaves to mourn her grandma Jean and was predeceased by her granddad Bill and maternal grandparents Fred and June. She will be missed by her in-laws Jack, Gail, Mark (Lori), Nicole (Robin) and countless other family and friends.
Krista was born on June 24, 1980 in Calgary and she grew up in Winnipeg. Krista became an independent and confident woman who cared deeply about her family and community. A hardworking, brilliant and exceptional student, Krista graduated at the top of her class at Kelvin High School and received a full scholarship to McGill University. She later completed a Master of Forest Conservation degree at the U of T while receiving several accolades. At 22, Krista became the executive director of the Manitoba chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. She later worked for the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources and Parks Canada where she completed a staggering amount of projects in a few short years. Krista developed a keen sense of adventure from travelling and camping with her family. As an adult, she visited Kenya, Senegal, South Asia, Australia, Tasmania and Scotland. She loved cooking, reading and spending time outdoors. In 2008, Krista met Andrew and they were married on May 22, 2010. Kris loved Andrew and knew how much he and the kids loved her. She gave so much of herself to her family and friends and provided valuable life lessons to everyone around her.
