It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian, loving wife, mother, grandmother & sister who passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at the Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, MB.
She leaves to mourn her loving husband, Gerald; her children, Claudette (Hubert), Andrea (Jon), & Jeff (Carolyn); grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, Eric, Kaitlyn, Addison, and Keira; along with many sisters and brothers who all loved her dearly.
Lillian grew up on a farm near Yorkton, SK with 11 siblings, daughter to Dan and Mary Chupa. She came to Winnipeg in 1964 and enrolled in the Success Angus Business School, where she obtained her business administration diploma. She began her career working in the insurance industry. Shortly after she met Jerry, they got married and they began their life together. They had three children which they raised in St Vital and in 1984 moved to St Adolphe. She stayed home to raise her children and spent countless hours pursuing her passions: cooking, baking and gardening. Lily was a kind and loving person who enjoyed taking care of others. She loved to spend time with her family and sharing her skills in the kitchen and outdoors. She always had a beautiful vegetable garden and endless flowers on their property. Lillies were her favourite. She took great pride in all her projects and you could see it in her work.
As her family grew, Lily devoted herself to her 6 grandchildren. She spent time teaching them her Ukrainian traditions, spending time outside, as well as sharing stories of her past. She was the number one fan at all her grandkids events and activities. She yelled her heart out at basketball, hockey, and volleyball games. She sat very proud at many, many dance recitals. Baba was a special lady to each of them and has left many memories for them to cherish.
Lily also loved to travel. The family went on many road trips across Canada and the US. When the kids were grown, her and Jerry travelled to her favourite destinations: Hawaii, Mexico and Arizona. Many memories have been made on these trips to the warmer climates where she loved to bask in the sun and enjoy the beach.
Lily had a deep faith in God and lived her life with this passion in faith. She read her bible and prayed each day.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, MB for taking care of our mother for the last 4 ½ years. She received the best care with caring staff who loved Lillian as much as we all did.
Your memories are our keepsake, from which we will never part.
God has you in His keeping, but we have you in our hearts.
