Margaret Granger passed away on October 1, 2024 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was 84 years old. Her family are grateful for all that she has done, and they send her off with love, gratitude and comfort, knowing she is in peace.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Marcie Granger and son-in-law Garth Arnason and their two children Magnus and Elise, along with her stepson Grant Granger and his four children
Leah (Joel, Jackson and Gracie), Robin (Dion, Mason, Zoe), Sarah (Joel) and Nathan, daughter-in-law Joanne Friesen and her son Michael (Janessa, Athan, Leo), her forever friend Pat and sister-in-law Joyce and brother-in-law Doug.
Margaret was predeceased by her entire family of origin; parents Gottlib and Wanda and her siblings Hugo (Iris), Adolph, Violet (Gary) and Irma.
Margaret was born on the farm in New Sarepta, Alberta. She was first generation Canadian born, as her parents immigrated to Canada from Poland in 1929. At the age of ten, she moved to Winnipeg. When Margaret was 15 years old her father died in a car crash. From then on, she became her mother’s primary care person until Wanda passed away in her 80th year.Margaret married Laurence Granger in 1969. The two entered into business together as Esso Agents in 1970, and in 1971 they had their only child together, Marcie.
After being in business for 16 years, Laurence and Margaret retired. They enjoyed years of travel and fishing together, watching their grandchildren grow and evolve. Margaret cared for Laurence in his final years, as he struggled with Alzheimer’s disease. She kept him home as long as she could and when she finally had to succumb to putting him in a home, she diligently went twice a day to make sure he was fed properly. It seemed only fitting that in Margaret’s final years she be given the dignity, care and respect that she bestowed on many in her life, but in particular her mother and her husband. Margaret spent the last 4 years of her life living with Marcie and her family. The family is forever grateful to Jackie Andres for her devotion, love gentleness and patience in her care of Margaret.
