Marian McCarthy, (nee Hull), passed away peacefully at Oakview Nursing Home on October 8.
Marian is survived by her son Paul, of Bedford, NH, a sister, Doris Tibbs, a brother, Wesley Hull and a sister-in-law Edna Hull of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christopher McCarthy and Alexandra Richardson of Charlotte, NC. Marian’s husband Don predeceased her in 2019 and a daughter, Marcia passed away in 2018.
Marian will be remembered by her family and friends as a wonderful personality and the life of the party. She loved to entertain, and her holiday decorating and gourmet dinners were fantastic. But Marian gave back to the community through her work with the Junior League of Winnipeg and her many hours of work at the River Heights Community Center. She was a dedicated sports woman and played tennis at Unicity, did her workouts at Re-fit and became an excellent golfer in her many years of membership at St. Charles CC.
Marian was a dedicated Christian woman of faith. She was a longtime member of Elim Chapel and Bethesda Churches. One of the greatest joys of her life was the association she and her husband Don had with the Billy Graham Association. This association led Marian and Don to several events around the world to experience the impact of that ministry. Don and Marian were sent to Russia to see the work That BGEA was doing in that country.
Marian loved to travel, and her many friends and family led her to travel to Europe, the Caribbean, across Western Canada and throughout much of the USA. She was fortunate to spend several winters with family and friends in Naples and Sarasota Florida. But she was a Winnipegger at heart and perhaps her best travels were to the Hull family summer home at Sandy Hook and her own family’s times at Lake of the Woods.
During this difficult time of the Pandemic, there will not be a funeral service. The family will have a private memorial when the time is right for us to all gather to celebrate Marian’s life.
