Mary Barry

Mary Barry (nee Rapinchuk) born December 1, 1927 in Grodno, Poland, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025 at the age of 97 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Linda (Ron) and Karen (Sandra), her brother Paul, nephews Ken (Loretta), Brian (Sandy) and Bruce (Brenda).

Mary was predeceased by her father Alexander, mother Martha, sister Vera, brother Steve, sister-in-law Ellie and brother-in-law Helmer.

Mary, her mom, dad and older siblings arrived in Canada when she was just a toddler - the family initially settling on a farm near Beausejour, then later relocating to Winnipeg when she was a young woman. She entered the workforce upon graduation from high school, married in 1956 and started a family. Mary worked a number of jobs in her lifetime and retired from the MB Government, Civil Service Commission in the early 1990s. She enjoyed her retirement, taking a couple bus tours and trips with family to Florida, Las Vegas, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Mary also loved doing puzzles and was especially fond of doing crosswords and word search, even into her later years.

Mary had a very kind heart to all animals and especially enjoyed time spent with her grand dogs. She also liked to ensure that the birds and squirrels were well fed especially during the winter months.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to all the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge (Maple unit) for their excellent care of Mary (Mom). Also, thank you to the doctors and nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital Urgent Care for their compassion and kindness.

As per Mary's request cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and interment will be held with family at a later date.
