Mary married Bill on October 30, 1938 and made the farm their family home. Mom worked side by side with Dad to carry out all farm duties. She was a devoted and caring wife and the hub of our happy home. She was a caring grandmother and loved babysitting her grandchildren. She loved gardening and took great pride in her flower garden. She was a talented seamstress, crocheted, knitted and made gorgeous quilts. She loved cooking her many Ukrainian dishes, baking, and canning. Everyone loved her famous bread. Mom was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Stuartburn and always lent a hand at all parish functions. Mom loved music and dancing. Dad had been waiting a long time to dance with Mom again. Mom touched so many lives with her kind nature and caring attitude. Dementia claimed her in her latter years.
Mom will be deeply missed by her daughters Elsie and Ann Marie, grandchildren Ed, Sandra (Vasyl), brother Johnny, extended family, nieces, and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by husband Bill, parents, in-laws, sisters Kay, Lena, Olga, and brother Walter, sons-in-law Ed and Daniel.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway, with Deacon Leon Twerdun officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Stuartburn.
We would like to thank all the staff members at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre for their kind and compassionate care of our mother.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
