Lillian peacefully went to be with her Lord after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband John Blake Mearon, her parents David and Mary-Jane Clawson, sister Dorothy Lennon, sister Isabel Carbert, nephew Ronnie Carbert, nephew Jim Lennon, and nephew Jack Prior.
Left to mourn her loss are her children, David Mearon (Elviera), Mary Jane Duncalfe (Kerry), Tammy Kaleta (Chris), grandchildren, Ben Duncalfe (Christine), Jared Duncalfe (Natasha), Macy and Joel Kaleta and her great grandchildren, Blake, Brooke, Kerry, Chasin, Peyton, Norah and Jett.
Lillian (Minnie) was born at home on McDermot Avenue in Winnipeg. She had fond memories of skating from her house down to the local outdoor rink that her dad established and maintained, now the Burton Cummings Arena. Not until Lillian began her job at City Hall did she come to find that she had been named Minnie at birth. She continued with Lillian. When Lillian’s dad became Fire Chief of Winnipeg, she travelled throughout the United States, and Canada to various Fire Chief conventions. After her marriage to Jack, she became a homemaker and mother. Lillian was a kind and thoughtful person who volunteered in many capacities, including the leadership of counselling on the Calvary Temple prayer line, as well with the Billy Graham call centre. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Temple, and a devout Christian who dedicated herself to prayer and studying the Bible. She was always available to lend a hand, or a listening ear. Many people speak of Lillian driving them to church, where their lives were changed and their faith grew. Her passion in life was raising her kids, then involving herself with her grandchildren. Her 70 year friendship with the “Hen’s Club” ladies was one of her cherished memories.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 10th, 2016 at 11:00 am at Calvary Temple in the Buntain Chapel, 440 Hargrave Street.
