OBITUARIO
Monica Judith Kyle (nee Ulrich)
21 enero , 1959 – 13 febrero , 2021
The family of Monica Judith Kyle is heartbroken to announce her passing after a lengthy battle with cancer on Saturday, February 13 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 62 years.
Monica will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years Geoff and her two children Alexander and Dylan. She will also be fondly remembered by her brother Edwin Ulrich (Scarlette) and her extended family of in-laws Gary Thiessen, David Kyle, Connie Hill (Robert), Joan Sneddon (Dave), Howard Wood, Colin Kyle (Yvonne) and Margaret Kyle (Bill Irwin). She will also be forever remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, dear friends and coworkers.
Monica was predeceased by her parents Manfred and Ingrid Ulrich and her beloved sister Evelyn Thiessen, parents-in-law Bill and Barbara Kyle and sisters-in-law Kim Wood and Cate Kyle.
Monica was born in Winnipeg and raised in East St. Paul. She attended school at Dr. F.W.L. Hamilton School, Robert Andrews School, John Pritchard School, and River East Collegiate. As a child, she had fond memories of family road trips and time at the family cottage at Long Lake. After marrying Geoff, she found herself enjoying time at the Kyle family cottage at Falcon Lake. Monica also enjoyed summer camping in their pop-up trailer with her husband and sons. Favored spots were the Black Hills in South Dakota and Rushing River Ontario. Monica treasured time with her family. Sunday afternoon dinners after church with her siblings and their children was a favored pastime.
Monica began her professional life at 18 when on a dare, she wandered into an optical shop in Polo Park Shopping Centre and applied for a job. That began a 44-year career as a licensed optician and store manager. While the names of the stores she worked at changed and the businesses were bought and sold she never applied for another job. At the time of her passing, she was on disability leave from Pearle Vision. She was grateful for the support she received from her company and coworkers during her illness.
Monica had a lifelong love affair with travelling. It began at 20 with a month-long backpacking trip through Europe with her sister Evelyn. Once married there were several trips to warm destinations such as Barbados, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico. Monica loved the beach. Every new beach she discovered would become her favorite right up until she would discover another new one. Then that one would become her favorite. Monica was especially grateful for getting in her last trip to Negril, Jamaica just before Covid19 hit.
The family of Monica would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Cancercare Manitoba for your kind and compassionate care. You are all very special people.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid19, a celebration of Monica’s life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, would you please consider a donation to CancerCare Manitoba or Fairfax Community Resources.

It saddens me to have learned of Monica’s passing. I was fortunate to have worked with Monica and Edwin in 1982, while working at Imperial Optical/House of Spectales. Monica was taking her Optical course at the time and I was learning the industry. Monica shared what she had learned with me and was a mentor. We had shared lots of laughter along the way. Monica was a very caring and fun person to be around. She had such a great laugh you couldn’t help not to laugh along with her. My heartfelt sympathy to you Geoff and your sons, along with Edwin and your families. Monica will be cherished in our Optical family, and missed greatly. Monica was such a lovely person.

Michael and I met Geoff and Monica through some mutual friends, I can't even remember how long ago, but it was friendship love at first sight!
Monica was so bubbly and sweet, you couldn't help but like her! We share a birthday month, so we had an automatic connection! We were not lucky enough to spend some tropical time with them but we cherish the Manitoban time we did have!
We will forever love and miss a little bit of Monica by our side!
Rest in peace sweet friend.

I met Monica and Geoff in Cancun many years ago. I could instantly see the love they had for each other. They soon became a couple that I loved spending time with. Monica had a spirit that was incandescent. Her easy going approach to life was very relaxing to be around. I always looked forward to seeing Monica and Geoff when I returned to Cancun. Monica will forever have a place in my heart and I will miss seeing her beautiful spirit.

My husband and I also spent many April vacations with Monica and Geoff in Cancun. Monica was always so easy to talk to and had a wonderful and fun personality ! Even though we only saw each other once a year we always picked up where we left off☺️ Monica will truly be missed by us and I’m sure the rest of our Cancun family❤️ Our thoughts and prayers are with Geoff and his family.
Lots of love

Meeting my lovely friend Monica was a true blessing. Monica had such a unique way of making you feel special and loved.
My Husband and I spent a few holidays in Mexico with Monica and Geoff who were amazing company.
Such fond memories of a lovely, caring hysterically funny lady.
Mexico will never be the same.
