Morley grew up in Stonewall with his father, Donald, mother, Florence (both deceased) and sister, Mary. They particularly loved spending time at their cottage at Falcon Lake.
He attended Teachers’ College to attain his teacher’s certificate and later continued his education at the University of Manitoba, completing a Master’s Degree in Education. Morley had a 30 plus year career as an educator and administrator, mainly in Transcona-Springfield school division. During this time, Morley made many strong connections with students and staff. Many of those relationships have continued to this day. This is also how he met his wife, Sharon.
Morley and Sharon, married for 30 years this year, spent much of their time together volunteering, curling, bowling, and landscaping their yard on the river in East St. Paul. In retirement they traveled the world. Some of their favorite adventures included narrow-boating in Wales, touring Croatia, and visiting his sister Mary and brother-in-law Jack (deceased) in Finland. They also traveled through many other small countries across Europe.
Morley was blessed with caring extended family some of whom include; Donnie and Stacie, Marnie and Dave, Teresa and Steve. He reveled in his time with his grandchildren; Breanne, Kathleen (Graham), Hunter (Drew), Paige, Keaton, and Hayleigh. He also affectionally welcomed two great-grandchildren; Kyler and Coen.
Friends were also a big part of Morley’s world. He had an amazing group of golf buddies who enjoyed the course as much as he. Some shared the greens with him for over 50 years. They spent many rounds “encouraging” each other and commenting on their amazing game. Their comradery and closeness made them family-like as many conversations, laughs and feelings were shared.
Morley truly believed in giving back. He volunteered for many years in a multitude of ways including delivering for Meal on Wheels, several times a week, for the past 25 years. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Meals on Wheels organization.
“Love is not a destination – it is the journey itself. I’m glad we made the trip together.”
