It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Raymond Ramroop Kumar on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021, at the age of 85.
He is survived by his loving and devoted children Kenryck (Quiana, Aveena); Rosetta, and Kevin (Colton, Jessie, Faith). He is predeceased by his wife Joan Anne, father Jamna, mother Marajo, and siblings Joe (Raymond, Ronald, Barbara), Babalay (Claireanne), Buddy (Robbie, Vibert, Ingrid, Cheddy, Terry, Rudy, Maria, Rohan), Iris (Debbie, Danny, Sinita, Pat), Sheila (Frederick, Sandra, Dennis, Cleveland) and Dennis (Desiree, Deveeda, Daniel). He also leaves to mourn numerous extended family members and friends.
Ray was born in Georgetown, Guyana on October 16th, 1936 and migrated with his immediate family to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1970.
Before retiring in 1995, Ray worked at the Victoria General Hospital for 24 years in the role as Health Care Aid. He was a quiet and humble man with a very gentle and loving soul. His passion for golf was second to none, as Ray and his many friends would golf 4-5 times a week during the summer and fall months. Off the golf course, Ray was famous for his Guyanese cook-up rice and black pudding - where he would get up very early in the morning (5am) to apply his “secret” seasoning. His main focus in life was always to his wife of 59 years, children and grand-children.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the medical team on the 5B and PD wards at the St. Boniface Hospital for their support, dedication and great care.
In lieu of flowers you may make a donation in his honour to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Kidney Foundation of Canada, or a charity of your choice.
