On Saturday, November 13, 2010, Rex, surrounded by loved ones, passed away at the age of 61 years at St. Boniface Hospital.
Rex was born in Beruwala, Sri Lanka and moved to Winnipeg in 1970. Rex worked for Motor Coach Industries for nearly 30 years as an Engineering Technologist.
He was the beloved son of the late Issidore and Lucy Fernando, stepson of Anna Fernando, husband of Sandra, father of Marlin (Lindsey), Amintha and Roshan, grandfather of Nishan and Brianna, brother of Anthony (Therese) - Australia, Bernie (Stan), Ranee (Basil), Naomi (Brian) - all of Calgary and Ruwani (Dan) - Vancouver.
Service will be held at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd at 2pm Thursday, November 18th, 2010, viewing will be held at 1:30pm.
Interment will be at “Thomson in the Park” Cemetery following cremation at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rex's memory to the Kidney Foundation.
