Mr. Roger Arthur Wieringa

Roger was predeceased by his parents George Wieringa in 1959 and Virginia Wieringa in 2003, his in-laws Conrad and Enid Orr and niece Heather Rocan. Roger leaves to mourn his wife, Beverley; sons Chris (Tracey), Robin (Nicole) and Rick (Tannis); grandchildren Mason, Alex, Jordyn, Taylor, Darian, and Erica; brother Paul (Darlene), Sister in-law Dianne (Paul) Rocan; nephews Cory, Justin, David, and families.

Born in Luxembourg on January 13, 1943, Roger moved with his family to Winnipeg and then later to Detroit. He eventually settled back in Winnipeg where he met the love of his life, Beverley. They married in 1967 and together they raised three sons.

Roger worked his entire career in Radiology at St. Boniface Hospital, retiring in 2002. His kind and caring nature touched many people’s lives during his 39 years as a Radiological Technologist.

Roger had a passion for drag racing, camping, biking, archery and watching football and soccer. He loved to travel, planning out many vacations that included stops to different NHRA drag racing events, touring NFL stadiums and other points of interest throughout the United States. When he retired, Roger and Beverley spent many winters in South Padre Island, Texas. He always enjoyed sharing stories, videos and photos of their many adventures and brought back stacks of travel brochures and souvenirs for each of his sons. Roger painstakingly spent hours adding cheeky anecdotes to family and travel photos for all to enjoy in their many photo albums.

Roger dearly loved the family dogs he had over the years, Ginger, Bandit and Rex. He took pride in passing that love of dogs on to all three of his sons who each gave him ‘grand-dogs’.

Roger had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, teaching them skills from his days as a Boy Scout and watching their sports or school concerts.

Rest in peace, Grandpawpaw. We love you.
