Ruby Grace Harper

1913-2013

Ruby passed away peacefully on March 3, 2013 at West Park Manor. Ruby was survived by her son Bruce (Lynn), granddaughter Rochelle (Glen), great grandson Gavin and great granddaughter Raegan, grandson Derrek (Honelie), great granddaughters Madeline and Genevieve, great grandsons Dekker and Daxton, daughter Helen, granddaughter Paula (Ted) great grandsons Brock and Dalton, granddaughter Shannon (Tom) and grandson Tyler.

Ruby was born in Somerset, Manitoba. She lived on the farm with her parents and six siblings until they moved to Carman when Ruby was sixteen. Ruby moved to Winnipeg to attend Welsley College (University of Winnipeg) and studied languages. She later took hairstyling and worked at Eaton Hair Salon for five years. Ruby met, fell in loved and married Orton in 1939. They moved to Charleswood in 1950 where Ruby enjoyed her life as a homemaker. She was very active in the A.C.W. Her church played an important role in her life. Ruby’s family and friends were always close to her heart. She always made a point of keeping in touch.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff of West Park Manor for their compassion and care.

We will be celebrating Ruby’s wonderfully long life on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 3830 Roblin Blvd.
