On October 9, 2025 at the age of 86 years, Sandy went home to be with our Lord.
She was predeceased by her husband Tom, parents, brother, infant daughter Susan, son Keith and grandson Chase.
Sandy was born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba, she attended numerous schools, graduating from General Wolfe.
Later, graduating from Manitoba Technical Institute. She worked at Great West Life for many years as staff loans officer.
She enjoyed her time there, excelling in her job and making new friends.
Sandy's life was full of challenges right from an early age. She is an example to all of us, overcoming many obstacles and disappointments in life. Raised in the church. She found answers and peace drawing on her faith.
She was a teacher to us all, on how to love unconditionally, forgive, not judge and what is really important “ Family”.
She was a selfless, kind and gentle woman.
Sandy loved and embraced Tom’s children, being “Gran” to the grandchildren and greats. Many fond memories were made over the years with celebrations and holidays together.
After Tom passed, Sandy moved back to Winnipeg, All Saints Anglican Church, family and friends.
Travelling was a very important part of life for both of them. For many years they travelled across Canada, USA and Mexico.
In 2017, her dream to take a Caribbean Cruise became a reality, spending time on every excursion, every show, dining etc. However it was spending time in Scotland reminiscing and visiting family and friends that was so very important. 2019 would be her last visit to Scotland. Meeting her second great grandchild, a granddaughter. This trip brought her so much joy.
Anyone who knew Sandy, saw her kind and gentle nature. Her love of children and animals was enormous. However not many of us were aware of her beautiful singing voice, and for years she had sung in the church choir.
Sandy loved the beach, lake Winnipeg in particular, and more recently Falcon lake. Each holding special memories from childhood till present.
Her heritage was also extremely important. Raised in a very traditional Irish home surrounded by aunts, uncles and of course “Gran”. You could always hear her saying “ I’m Irish you know”! At home in the parlour listening to music, singing or at the Irish club trading stories about Ireland and celebrating just about anything. Then there was the Irish and Scottish pavilions at Folklorama- she just couldn’t get enough! St. Patrick’s Day celebrations she went all out. Everything green from finger nails to lipstick, face stickers, hats, necklaces and sing alongs. She even had an Irish drink. Always fun times at the Irish club after the parade of course.
For Sandy, Birthdays, Easter and Christmas were the big deals. It was a time to pour hours into shopping for the perfect gifts for the grandchildren. All gifts were carefully chosen and wrapped to perfection, and received on time. Because her birthday was between Christmas and New Years, she was always up for another party. Looking forward to “Ribs”, and mashed potatoes along with a big piece of Black forest cake and ice cream. The highlight of it all, was receiving a beautiful bouquet of red roses from Barb and family on the 29th. It meant so much to her.
“ Rest in peace cousin”
