Dad (Steven) was born in Winnipeg at the Saint Boniface Hospital on August 4th 1971 as a boy dad loved sports, particularly hockey. He spent many of his boyhood days playing hockey at the rink and when there was no ice, street hockey. His father before him had played for the Brandon Wheat Kings and dad had aspirations of one-upping his old man. When Dad was not playing hockey he spent a lot of his time reading. He would often be found nose deep in a book when he wasn't outside playing sports. In his teenage years, dad continued to excel at sports competing in track and field provincially representing Churchill High School. He met the mother of his children Becky while in high school and together they had three beautiful children. After High School Steve received his class 1 driver’s license and began Long Haul truck driving. He was at a few different companies over the years and eventually ended up driving for Wonder shows amusement park where he worked for a number of years. When not on the road Steve spent much of his time fishing with his son and friends.
As life went on Steve faced a lot of adversity and many hardships. He met his long-time partner Kinzie in 2006 they were together until 2018 at which point Kinzie passed. Despite the hardships Steve went through he is remembered as having a big heart and always offering all of himself to others. He would often open up his home to those in need and offer up what little he had. Steve had many cats over the years. He would find them abandoned and welcome them into his home where he would nurse them back to health. His cats were very important to him and one of his few comforts in later life. In his final years Steve struggled with a number of illnesses. He fought through them very hard; all through his struggles he continued to help people even when he had nothing to give.
He will be remembered with love and his sons will strive to emulate the best parts of him. We will forever love you Dad.
The family thanks everyone for their love and support. Donations can be made out to the Winnipeg Humane Society in dad's name.
