He was part of many groups including; The Mist, The Rockin' Tones, Larry's Lynch Mob, The Eternals and The Esquires. His love of rock and roll music was passed on to his children, with countless loud car singing sessions to his favorites including his infamous dashboard drumming skills You always knew when Dad came home, the music was so loud in his car you could hear it from the driveway.
After chasing his dreams of becoming a professional musician, he shifted focus to start his career in accounting. Around this time, he met his wife Marlene, and they were married in 1968. He started as teller at TD Bank in Winnipeg while obtaining his CGA designation. He later joined the Federated Co-Op as an Accountant and moved with Marlene to different locations including Beausejour, St Jean Baptise and Killarney. After a brief retirement, he decided to create his own Tax business “VicTax” that included doing personal and business tax in Winnipeg and Lorette. He grew the business to 300+ clients and maintained the business until selling it in 2025.
Victor was a devoted and loving father to Thomas and Rhonda who will dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them. Among them was the value of hard work and chasing your dreams, he was proud to see how successful both his children were in their careers.
Vic loved camping with his family, they spent their summer holidays travelling around Manitoba, NW Ontario and Alberta. Many summers included camping at his beloved Blue Lake…he loved this place, the beach and the call of the loons. When the family retired from camping with the trailer, he found his "little place in the woods". He purchased a family cottage at Hillside Beach on Lake Winnipeg. This was a place he could relax on the weekends, and was close enough for his children to visit when they weren't working. It wasn't long before he and Marlene found an amazing group of friends to enjoy cards and social functions. Their 25th wedding anniversary was celebrated there, surrounded by family and friends travelling to spend the day together. Countless Cribbage championships were contested as well as many rounds of golf at Pine Falls GC and Grand Pines. He enjoyed his morning ritual walk on the beach with his dogs Maverick and Penny over the years, stopping for coffee with Len Tratch.
His passion for playing hockey in his early years turned into coaching for the Fort Richmond Kings and Twins organizations. He coached for many years and made an impact on many including players and coaches for 20+ years. One of his other passions was the game of golf, he was introduced to the game but his Uncle Jack. He enjoyed many rounds of golf with his son Thomas, friends, family and was a member of the original Southwood Golf & Country Club. A personal highlight was visiting the Old Course at St Andrews during a trip to Scotland with Mom.
