With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Zahiroon Mohammed Sookhoo, who departed this life on March 31, 2025 at the age of 74. Born and raised in Libertville, Rio Claro, Trinidad and Tobago, Zahiroon later made her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she built a life filled with love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Zahiroon was the beloved wife of Neeranjan Sookhoo, a devoted mother to her daughter Sarah and son Stefon, and a proud grandmother to her grandsons Syrel and Kaylem, who brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves behind her fur baby Hachi, that provided faithful and humorous companionship of always stealing her house slippers which amounted to many laughs.
She dedicated her life to caring for others during her career as a nurse, selflessly putting her own health aside to ensure the well-being of those in need. Nursing was not just a profession for her—it was a deep passion, and she touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Beyond her career, Zahiroon embraced life with warmth and joy. She loved watching her favorite soap operas, especially Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless, always keeping up with the latest twists and turns of the stories she adored. She had a deep love for dancing with her husband—when they took to the dance floor, they shut it down with their incredible moves, creating unforgettable moments filled with laughter and love.
She also had a passion for traveling and experiencing new places, especially resorts, where she could relax and indulge in trying new cuisine. Exploring different cultures through food was one of her greatest joys, and she cherished the memories made during her travels.
