

Winston-Salem- Mrs. Alma Lee Brown York, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11 AM at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel with Reverend Keith Heitman officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
Mrs. York was born in Forsyth County to the late Mr. & Mrs. John Lester and Anna Lee Cates Brown. She was of the Baptist faith. For many years she worked as a seamstress for Hanes Hosiery and later with Hamrick’s. Her love in life was her family and she celebrated their lives through her collection of photographs.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Carlotta Lee York Clark (Ronald) of Clinton, MS, Debbie Summer Williard of Winston-Salem, Tammy Diann York of Winston-Salem, Bob Wayne York (Gwenda) of Walnut Cove, Richard Steven York (Nina) of East Bend, and David Bynum York (Shelia) of Kernersville; six grandchildren, William Alexander (Angie) Verevkin, Ronald Lee (Lori) Clark, II, Shannon Dell (Daniel) Newman, Christopher Tyler (Elizabeth) York, Jason Alan York, and Philip Anthony York ; six great-grandchildren, Amber Clark, Grace Newman, Claire Newman , Joshua Verevkin, Drizzt Verevkin, and Leah York; brother, Lester (Nancy) Brown of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of sixty years, William Robert York, Jr., brothers, John Bynum Brown and Raymond Walker; sisters, Katherine Livingood and Nina Shaw, and great grandson, Hunter Lee Clark.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 1 from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. On-line condolences may be made at www.frankvoglerandsons.com.
