Dr. Charles Petitt, president of Carolina University, husband to Dawn Petitt and loving father to his daughters Alicia and Tiffany, passed away on May 7, 2025 after suffering a heart attack five days prior.
He leaves behind a legacy as a bold leader, both as a church planting missionary in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, then later as the head of Piedmont Baptist College, later renamed Carolina University, where he guided it to become a thriving institution over the course of twenty-three years.
Remembered for his thoughtful sermons and engaging storytelling, he impacted many lives by dreaming big and acting quickly with bold confidence. The echoes of his choices and words will carry on for decades to come.
The funeral service will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Saturday, May 17th at 10am. The family will receive friends for a visitation following the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to Carolina University.
