She was born on July 7, 1925, to Bettie and Luther Everhart. Doris retired from Container Corp. as a buyer after 43 years of service. She was married to her husband, Thomas S. Hutchens, for 51 wonderful years.
She is survived by her son, Tim G. Hutchens, and his wife, Aprile, of Yadkinville; two grandchildren, Dr. Thomas C. Hutchens of Charlotte and Lindsay L. Hutchens of Elkin; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Bruce Boteler; sister-in-law, Donna Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Legrand and Bill Everhart; her sisters, Bettie Jones, Maxine Page, and Judy Boteler.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the lake, painting, sewing, planting flowers, and traveling with her husband in their motorhome.
Doris was of the Baptist faith.
She had wonderful, loving caregivers: Lindsay, Rena, Merita, and Mary, as well as special next-door friends, Lois and Steve.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem. There will be a reception to follow at Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park.
