
Frances Louise Phillips Teague Davenport passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in Nashville, TN where she had been living with her son and his family. She was born in Winston-Salem on February 2, 1922 and graduated from Hanes High School. She is preceded in death by her parents, Escar Leo Phillips and Josephine Frith Phillips, her husbands Ray C. Teague and Louis Davenport, her brothers Harold (Toby) Phillips and Joe Richard (Polly) Phillips, and her sister Caroline (Dale) Phillips Collins. She is survived by her children Joan Teague Rose of Virginia Beach, VA, Philip (Mary Pat) Teague of Nashville, TN, Cheryl (Steven) Teague Whitney of Seattle, WA, Richard Teague of Charleston, SC and Deborah Teague of Winston-Salem; step-children Richard “Dick” (Sandra) Davenport of Winston-Salem and Mary Lou (Jack) Murphy of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren Kelly Rose, Barrett and Ellen Teague, Shannon and Kathleen Whitney and Skye Teague and sister-in-laws Wilma “Toby” Tilley Phillips and Polly Phillips Acker and numerous nieces and nephews. Frances was a devoted wife and mother to not only her children, but to all who entered her life. She was a proud retiree of both Southern Bell Telephone and Piedmont Airlines. Frances loved life and always had a smile on her face. Her family was always foremost but she loved her church and the town of Winston-Salem, in particular her many friends and neighbors on Austin Lane. She was active for many years at Maple Springs United Methodist Church and enjoyed performing with the Snappy Tappers. She will be missed by all. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, February 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Maple Springs United Methodist Church with a celebration of life service conducted by Reverend Terry Matthews to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Maple Spring United Methodist Church, 2569 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
