Gertrude Jenkins Jones

Gertrude was born December 3, 1921 in Rockcastle, Virginia to Robert Samuel Jenkins and Mary Epsie Creed.

She lived in Winston-Salem, NC from 1924 until 2008, when she moved to SC to live with her daughter, Teresa, until her death. She married Joseph Vincent Gallen in 1948, who preceded her in death in 1986. They have two surviving daughters: Mary Debbie Gallen Hodsdon (Doug) of Jacksonville, FL and Teresa Gallen MacFawn (David) of Lexington, SC. They also have five grandchildren: Brad Hodsdon, Ben Hodsdon, Gray Hodsdon, Angela MacFawn and Neil MacFawn.

She married John P. Jones in 1991, who predeceased her in 1998, and from whom she had a stepson, Stephen Jones (Sandy), and a stepdaughter, Kathryn Jones (deceased). She also has two step-grandchildren: Britton Jones and Kristin Berrier.

She was very proud of all her great grandchildren and considered each and every one a special blessing. She held a special place in her heart for all her nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Fairview Moravian Church and served her Lord in many ways through the church, family, and friends.

The funeral service will be Saturday, July 1st at 11am at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
