
Katherine Sain McBride “Kate” passed away on Monday May 2nd at home. She was born June 10, 1920 in Yadkin County to Stancil and Cora Sain. She graduated from Courtney High School in 1937 and went to work at Western Electric (Lucent) until her retirement in 1968. Kate loved to travel and went many places over the years but her most memorable was in 1980 to Oberammergau to see the Passion Play. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Forsyth Medical Center for over 20 years. She was active in her church, Union United Methodist, as long as she was able serving in several capacities. She took care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Arthur), son and daughter-in-law (Hugh and Janice), daughter-in-law (Sandi), and son-in-law (Tommy Cumby). Those left to cherish her memory are daughter Kay Cumby of the home, and son Hubert McBride of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Erin Collins (Brad) of Yadkinville, Stephen McBride of Winston-Salem, and Kayla Opengari of Winston-Salem; great-grandchildren John Thomas and Katy Mae Collins, Haley and Dylan McBride, and Ty Opengari; special family members Barbara Mabe of Danbury, Elizabeth Mabe Johnson of Walnut Cove, and Amanda Mabe Tilley of Lawsonville, and their families along with numerous other family members, friends, and neighbors. We were all so blessed to have this wonderful woman in our lives for 101 years.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4th from 6-8pm at Vogler Funeral & Cremations. A graveside service will be Thursday at 10am at Forsyth Memorial Park with Pastor Eddie Evans officiating.
