Mabel Wadford Smith

Pfafftown- Mrs. Mabel Wadford Smith, 98 of Pfafftown passed away on October 11, 2012 at Vienna Village. She was born September 20, 1914 in Forsyth County to George C. and Blanche Keys Wadford. Mrs. Smith was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. Giles Smith Jr.; a daughter, Pamela Howel Smith; and a granddaughter, Christy Dawn Smith. She is survived by twin daughters, Janet S. Smith and husband Mike of Winston-Salem and Jerry S. Barber Stansberry of Rehoboth Beach, DE; and two sons, J. Giles Smith, III and wife Mildred of Lewisville and Gregory W. Smith of Tempe, AZ. Nine grandchildren, Mitch Smith and wife Rita, Clemmons; Mickie Bunch and husband Rex, Greenville, TX; Mindy Luck and husband Joe, Winston-Salem; Melanie McCarthy, Winston-Salem; Kerry Barber, San Diego, CA; Kimberly Barber, Bridgeville, DE; Melissa Lafley and husband Marc, Clemmons; Jay G. Smith, IV and wife Kimberly, Winston-Salem; and Patrick Justin Smith of High Point. Also surviving are fifteen great-grandchildren four great-great grandchildren, special nieces, Yvonne S. Kilbourne, Karen and Nadine Lundsgaard and two good friends, Emily Shaver and Harriet Binkley.

A service of Celebration and Remembrance will be conducted by Reverend Keith Bingham, Reverend Ellis Rouse and Hospice Chaplain Susan Morris at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 11AM. Interment will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Garden on High Point Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
