

Mary Deaton Moore, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 3rd, 2026, in Winston-Salem, NC, at the age of 79. She was born on January 9th, 1947, in Morganton, NC to Bob and Ella Deaton. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Mary was a God-fearing woman who lived her life with faith and devotion. She will be deeply missed by her children Jeff, Teresa, Scott and daughter-in-laws Ann and Nicole. Her memory will forever be treasured by her four grandchildren, granddaughters Rachel White (husband Ralph), Scarlett Sutton (husband Donte) and Emmy Moore and grandson Cole Moore. Mary is survived by her brother Tex Deaton. Mary was preceded in death by her soul mate and husband of 58 years Ed, father Bob, mother Ella, brothers Junior, Calvin, Leon and James and sisters Myrtle and Martha.
Mary owned a local alternation business, Mary’s Alteration Shop, for over 30-years before spending the final 15 years of her professional career working full-time for BB&T and working part-time at H&R Block during tax season. She was a respected business owner, co-worker, advisor and friend to many in the local community.
Mary loved watching her kids and grandkids play sports, serving as team manager for many teams over the years. If either child had a game, she was on the sidelines with scorebook in hand cheering on the entire team.
