

Mildred was born in Wilkes County, NC, to Jesse Leonard Holloway and Fannie Stella Waddell Holloway and was the 6th of 7 children. She worked at Carolon Company as plant manager until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ira Wyott Dowell. Also preceding her in death were a brother, Eldon Holloway of Wilkes County and sisters, Marie Caudill, Doris Kennedy, and Daughn Tuttle, all of Winston-Salem. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Dowell Blackmon (Keith) Lewisville, NC; two grandsons, Matthew Blackmon (Melissa) of Alexandria, Virginia, and Chris Blackmon (Lauren) of Winston-Salem; four great-grandchildren, Merritt, Wyatt, Faith and Liam; sisters, Retha Steed and Marilyn Shortt, both of Winston-Salem; and many much loved nieces and nephews.
Mildred’s life centered around her home and family. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She loved animals, especially her cats. She was an avid gardener and a great cook. She was gracious and kind to everyone who knew her. She was a faithful member of her church. In her life, Mildred fought the good fight. She finished the race and kept the faith of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Clemmons Village Assisted Living II, the doctors and nurses at Novant Forsyth Memorial Hospital ICU and Trellis Supportive Care for all their excellent love and care of Mildred. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Trellis Supportive Care, Attention: Finance, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to a charity of
choice.
A Celebration of Life Gathering & Reception will be held From 1-3PM on Sunday December 3 at Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park.
